IWIF and employees donate nearly $80k to
Maryland Charity Campaign
(TOWSON, MD).)--Employees of IWIF, Maryland’s largest workers’ compensation
insurance company, donated more than $39,000 to the Maryland Charity
Campaign during the State’s 2005 fundraiser. Additionally,
the company matched the amount to bring the total contribution
to nearly $80,000, about $3,500 more then the previous year.
Other acts of giving increased in 2005
IWIF’s Charitable Contributions Committee, comprised of employees
who volunteer their time to plan fundraisers, donations and award
grant money, reported co-workers turned out in record numbers in
2005 to give to those in need and participate in a variety of charitable
events.
Throughout the year, many of IWIF’s 400 employees participated
in various events, which were designed to give back to the community.
Opportunities included: Donations to the American Red Cross to
benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina, safety training at Merganthaler
Vocational Technical High School, Red Cross blood drives, mentoring
children at Harford Hills Elementary School through Big Brothers
and Big Sisters of Central Maryland, Inner City Suburban Youth,
holiday Adopt-A-Family, food drives for various food banks around
the State and much more.
The company’s committee also awards grant money and matching
funds to non-profit organizations throughout the State with a 501(c)
(3) status that support children’s health and education,
safety in the workplace and home, and those that provide relief
for medical, environmental or natural disasters.
