Claimant withdraws comp claim due to surveillance video
(TOWSON, MD) –James Simmons, a Harford County resident, withdrew
his request for additional workers’ compensation insurance
benefits at the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission
in Harford County. In addition to withdrawing his claim, Simmons
also repaid IWIF $4,526.
Simmons and his attorney learned IWIF Workers’ Compensation
Insurance was prepared to provide the commissioner with surveillance
video of the claimant working while collecting disability benefits.
Simmons’ attorney later withdrew the claim for additional
benefits and the claim was settled for zero percentage of permanency.
Simmons alleged he slipped and sprained his back while working
for a framing company based in Harford County. IWIF provided Simmons
with temporary total benefits and payment for medical treatment.
Established in 1914, IWIF is the largest provider of workers’ compensation
insurance in Maryland.
