Mark Marszal elected CPCU Maryland Chapter President
(TOWSON, MD)--Mark R. Marszal, CPCU, has become the 2007-2008 President
of the Maryland Chapter of the CPCU Society during an installment
ceremony on June 13, 2007 at Rolling Road Golf Club. “My
primary mission as the new president of Maryland Chapter CPCU is
to continue to provide educational value to the society’s
members,” says Marszal. This includes promoting a broader
public understanding of the insurance industry’s effectiveness
in solving human problems, ranging from risks in starting up a
new business to coping with losses dealt by national disasters.
It also includes helping convince young job hunters that insurance
is a worthy career.
Marszal is a 28-year veteran of IWIF Workers’ Compensation
Insurance, Maryland’s largest provider of workers’ compensation
insurance. Currently, he is the Product Development Director for
IWIF.
Marszal says he sees insurance professionals as individuals with
a great opportunity to help society deal with a wide range of problems
through the sharing of risks by policyholders. He also hopes the
industry will do more to attract young professionals by convincing
them that insurance is a rewarding industry.
Other newly elected officers installed during the special ceremony
include: Lori A. Houser, CPCU, First Vice President; Patricia J.
Wagner, CPCU, Second Vice President; Barbara L. Lagas, Secretary;
Terry Katz, CPCU, Director; and Walter York, CPCU, Director. Also
elected were Katie Counselman, CPCU, Treasurer; and David Sweigard,
Director.
The CPCU Society consists of 151 Chapters with nearly 28,000 members
and is considered the leading organization for property and casualty
professionals. The Maryland Chapter members are involved in educational,
charitable, and volunteer activities throughout the year.
