IWIF Board of Directors selects officers and welcomes new members
(TOWSON,
MD)--Tom Phelan, President and CEO for IWIF Workers’ Compensation
Insurance, today announced recent changes made to IWIF’s
Board of Directors. Mr. Phelan explained that the Governor appoints
the members to IWIF’s Board and once the State Senate confirms
them, they are eligible to serve two five-year terms. The four
new members appointed to IWIF’s Board by Gov. Martin O’Malley
are:
· Leonard (Bud) G. Schuler, Jr., effective March 17, 2008
Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union 486
· Charles Dankmeyer, effective June 1, 2008
President and CEO of Dankmeyer, Inc.
· Kenneth Nwafor, effective June 1, 2008
Acting Director of Financial Services for Prince George’s
County Public Schools
· Joseph M. Coale, III, effective June 1, 2008
Former IWIF Board Secretary 1983-2003
Phelan noted that Dan McKew, CPA and Board Chairman, completed
his term on March 14. According to Phelan, “Each board member
brings certain value to our organization. Dan has served as our
chairperson for many years and helped IWIF improve operationally
and set direction for the company that will guide us into the foreseeable
future. ” In addition, Phelan reports that the following
board members will complete their terms May 31, 2008:

Michael Wagner, Member
Mr. Phelan said, “While it is difficult to see people who
have helped to guide IWIF depart, it is exciting to welcome new
members to our Board.” On behalf of the entire IWIF staff,
Mr. Phelan would like to thank these esteemed Board members for
their years of exemplary leadership and guidance and welcome our
new Board members.
As a result of the departures, IWIF’s Board of Directors
elected new officers during the March 25, 2008 meeting:
Rocky V. Gonzalez, Chairman
R. Bruce Alderman, Vice Chairman
Patricia McHugh Lambert, Secretary
Frank D. Boston, Treasurer
Remaining on the board is member Queen Logan Gladden.
Established in 1914, IWIF is the largest provider of workers’ compensation
insurance in Maryland.
