IWIF presents City of Crisfield with safety award
TOWSON,
MD— IWIF President and CEO Tom Phelan, CPA, recently presented the city of Crisfield and its Mayor, Perry James Purnell, with the Safety Saves With IWIF Premier Partnership Award. The city and its mayor and employees were recognized by IWIF for their outstanding commitment to workplace safety and health and for effective claims management. According to IWIF’s claims data, the municipality has had a 73 percent reduction in workplace injuries from 2003 to 2007.
“Crisfield was selected for the award from more than 2,000 IWIF policyholders from Maryland’s Eastern shore,” said Mr. Phelan. “The city is a great success story of a Maryland municipality and its employees making a commitment to working safely. Not only does safety save the human costs of an injury, but it also saves premium dollars for the city.”
The city’s insurance broker, Charlie “Mac” McClenahan, CEO of Landmark Insurance in Princess Anne, helped to lead efforts to coordinate IWIF’s loss control and claims management efforts within the city’s operation. “I have always been impressed with IWIF’s risk management solutions and the training it has offered its policyholders.”
The City of Crisfield employs approximately 96 workers.
